Is This Love?

Sometimes it seems like people don’t want to hear the truth and would rather take comfort in “feel good” sayings that miss the mark on the truth about life, but here goes…

Love is NOT supposed to hurt.

If you  are hurting and think its love, it’s not.  You’re doing it wrong.  I know songs and television and your friends and even your own experiences tell you that love stinks and love hurts, but that isn’t real.  That isn’t the truth.  It’s not the love that hurts, it’s turning away from love that hurts.

The Truth

Love is joy, happiness, sharing, giving, complimentary to every aspect of life, and love always feels good.  If you are hurting you are not loving.  Period.  At that moment you have taken your focus away from what you want (love) and have given your attention and energy to what you don’t what – and that is what hurts and why it hurts, but it isn’t love.

So please, if you hurt stop giving love a bad name.  Love never hurts.  Never.

Oh, and if you are hurting now take comfort in knowing I love you,  no matter who you are, no matter where you are, even if you think you don’t love me too.

Last night on the Science Channel I watched Through The Wormhole with Morgan Freeman (“Is There A Sixth Sense?”)

There was some fascinating insight into the work of Dr. Roger Nelson who began the Global Consciousness Project in 1998 as an attempt to detect possible interactions of “global consciousness” with physical systems.   This global consciousness also points to how we are all connected in the mind, but you knew that, didn’t you?

People have been writing about the Universal Mind or God Consciousness for years.  Since the 1800s research has been trying to prove if a sixth sense truly exists, and have looked for a scientific explanation for such abilities.  In 1912, Charles Haanel wrote about the Universal Mind:

“It is through the subconscious that we are all connected with the Universal Mind and brought into relation with the Infinite constructive forces of the Universe.”

There are those of us, myself included, who already know what science is trying to verify: the global consciousness is how we are all connected.  We are all connected.  We are one, pieces of the whole.  Science continues to prove this to be true despite the skeptics and criticism.

Check out the work of the Global Consciousness Project with an understanding that all advances at first have skeptics and criticism.  Jesus had and still has skeptics and criticism.  The idea that the world is not flat had skeptics.  The idea that we are all connected in the one Universal Mind will always have skeptics too.

Always Only Now

Your understanding of the concept of time (a man-made illusion) is important to your ability to create with intentional use of the Law of Attraction.  It effects how you think and speak and act.

This is what I understand about the concept of time:  there is only now.

As odd as that sounds, that’s it.  Now.

  • If you look back at the past you are doing it now.
  • If you look forward to tomorrow you are doing it now.

It is always, only now.  This is where your power is.  Right here, now.

“If you tell yourself things like someday I’ll be a millionaire you are actually making that statement a reality, that someday you will be a millionaire, but you see someday never comes.  It is always, only now.  Using words like someday keeps your desires in the future.”

Bob Doyle
Wealth Beyond Reason

Now is the only time you can do anything.  You can’t do something yesterday.  If you want to do something tomorrow when you are doing it, it will be now.  Now is the only time you can do anything.  All your power is here, now.

You can only have a thought now – you can only have a better thought now.

You can only act now – you can only take inspired action (acting to receive) now.

You can only feel love now – you can feel love all day, every day, and you will always feel love now.

You can only become aware now.

There is a saying by Henry David Thoreau, “Never look back unless you are planning to go that way.”  That means the past is the past.  That means creating your best life isn’t in the past.  That means your power is here, now.  That means a lot of things that all point in the direction what you want which is always right here, now.

My Love

When you listen to someone explain how the Law of Attraction works they will say like attracts like.  That means your vibration attracts circumstances and experiences with a vibration that matches your vibration.

There is an even better way that really explains how the Law of Attraction works:  Love Attracts Love

It is an undeniable truth: love is the best vibration you can hold.  Love is the truest expression of positive energy that exists anywhere in the universe.  There is no other way to better match yourself to the vibration of what you desire.  Love is the truest expression of Spirit.

Anywhere you find the Law of Attraction working in an intentional, purposeful way, in a way that is attracting what is desired, you will find love.  The law of attraction and love go hand in hand in the creation, attraction process.

“Thought is a mode of motion and is carried by the law of vibration the same as light or electricity.  It is given vitality by the emotions through the law of love; it takes form and expression by the law of growth; it is a product of the spiritual “I”, hence it is Divine, spiritual, and creative nature.  From this it is evident that in order to express power, abundance, or any other constructive purpose, the emotions must be called upon to give feeling to the thought so that it will take form.”

Charles Haanel

Love is the feeling part of the creation process.  You will attract what you think about and feel about.  Since there is no better  feeling – no greater expression of positive energy or vibration than love, love has everything to do with it.

The First Thanksgiving Jean Louis Gerome Ferris

I love to learn new things and have always been something of a sponge for information.  The public library was one of my favorite hangouts right after graduating high school.  I actually didn’t discover this thirst for information until after I was out of school.  Unfortunately, school teaches us reading, writing, and arithmetic, but it doesn’t teach us how to think.  It doesn’t teach us how to become conscious of the things we really desired like love, joy, and a lifetime of happiness.  We have to go learn that stuff on our own.  Also unfortunate, some of us never learn it, hardly experience it, and usually end up wondering where the joy, love, and happiness is.

More than 30 years after I began looking for answers on how to become conscious of joy, love, and a happy life, the Secret was put in front of me.  I have said it before and it is true, the Secret (movie, book, and audio book) changed my life.  Here’s how…

I remember when I was a child waking up Thanksgiving morning.  I could smell the food already cooking.  I can close my eyes right now and still smell my mother’s amazing cooking!  Heavenly!  It is without a doubt still my favorite food day of the entire year, and I feel blessed to experience that.  Throughout that day I could see the evidence of the meal we were preparing to sit and share.  The smells, sights, and sounds made me drool with anticipation.

To me, the Secret is the smells and the sights and sounds of the meal being prepared Thanksgiving morning, but it’s not the meal itself.  The meal is the abundance of information that the Secret leads to.

The Secret changed my life because it made me hungry for the knowledge that allows me to live the life I’ve always dreamed of living, a life of joy, love, and happiness.  I fill myself up with it every chance I get, and the more I take in and awaken to, the more I want.  The good news about wanting more and more is that I can be as greedy as I want because there is a world of information waiting for me to discover, and I can have as much as I desire.  We all can.

There are 29 teachers listed in the back of the Secret book.  So far I own material from 8 of them and have read, watched, and learned outside of the Secret from many, many more.  I read, watch, and listen on a daily basis to people who inspire me to awaken to my greatness.  The Secret can change your life too if you tap into the wealth of information the Secret teachers have to share with you.  If you want to feed yourself even better than the best Thanksgiving meal you can imagine, begin and don’t stop reading, watching, and listening to those who inspire you to awaken to your own greatness.

What have you read, watched, or listened to that changed your life?

10 of 365 - Let Go

Many years ago when I first read about the Law of Attraction I immediately dismissed it as BS.  I put down the books and went back to looking outside of myself for the things I wanted.  I’m sure a lot of people do the same thing, and unfortunately many of those people will never see that the Law of Attraction is the truth about life.  It is one of the natural laws of the Universe just like the law of gravity, just like the law of growth.  It is an inescapable truth that always has been and always will be.

I was fortunate in that I kept searching for answers.  Even though I didn’t know it then, the very thing I dismissed (the Law of Attraction) was what brought me the answers I sought.  Funny how that works.

Fast forward many years.  More and more people were writing and talking about the law of attraction so I gave it another look, and this time it started to make sense.  I could look back over my life and see there was something about this law that I couldn’t dismiss.  I had grown and awakened enough to the information that I was ready to start taking this Law of Attraction thing seriously.

This was when I began to learn about letting go.  What?!  Let me tell you, when I first read that to attract something you have to let go of wanting it, I dismissed it (again) and put the books down.  Again.  How could that work?  How can I ever get the money I wanted and let go of wanting it?  It didn’t make sense so I put down those books and started looking in yet another direction.  I wasn’t ready to let go of wanting money because I wanted money!

Fast forward many more years.  I discovered and devoured books like Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz, The Greatest Secret in the World by Og Mandino, and The New Lead The Field by Earl Nightingale, and I started to realize that what I was after really wasn’t outside of me.  In fact, it was me!

I picked up the Law of Attraction books yet again and this time I didn’t put them down.  I didn’t immediately get it, but I didn’t stop trying to get it either.

Finally, years after I first heard about the Law of Attraction I believe I understand this letting go thing.  I sum it up like this: If You Want To See It Stop Looking.

Here’s why…

Wanting is negative energy.  Wanting something means you don’t have it.  If you’re looking for what you want it’s like saying you don’t have it so you need to find it.

You don’t want things you already have, you only want things you don’t have – – BUT you can’t attract things with a vibration that you don’t have it.  You attract things with the vibration of already having it.  So, letting go is about releasing the vibration of not having it.  Letting go is about releasing the vibration of wanting.  It’s actually pretty easy to do when you understand the rest of the equation:

Everything you will ever want is already yours.  The Bible says it, the great thinkers of the past wrote about it, science proves it, self-help gurus teach it, and everything about the Universe shows it so there can be no doubt.

Everything you will ever want is already yours.

That means there is never a need to “want” for things because they are already yours.  You can let go of the wanting and let go of the negative vibration of not having what you want.  When you let go and know that it is yours, your vibration is of having it already.  That is what attracts.  That is what manifests.

If you want to see it stop looking.

I get it now.

"Praying Hands" (study for an Apostl...

Image via Wikipedia

Isn’t it peculiar that some people only pray on Sunday or when someone is sick?

The Bible says, “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive” (Matthew 21:22) and EVERY self-help guru who really understands how things work in this Universe says the same thing.  Exactly the same thing.

It is true, you get what you ask for when you know how to ask and how to receive what you’ve asked for:

You ask by having a strong desire for it.  Focus yourself on making a statement – not a question, a statement – to your Creator with your thoughts, words, and feelings that this is what you desire.

You don’t ask a question because it is already well established that your Creator will give you what you ask for.  Anything you ask for is already yours.  A question says something about your belief.  A statement says you believe.

You only ask once.  You don’t need to keep asking.  You only need to give thanks because what you ask for is already yours.  If you ask again it says something about your belief.  If you give thanks it says you believe.

You receive by turning it over to a higher power.  If you believe in God, “Let go and let God” isn’t just a saying.  It’s how things work.  Let go of trying to figure out how it will happen and just know that it will.  If you believe in any other higher power it works the same way.  Exactly the same way.

Then, believing it is already yours (because it is) you pray ceaselessly.  That means you give thanks and you feel what it feels like to already have what you’ve asked for — and you keep thanking and feeling.   It becomes your predominant thought throughout your day.  Every day, at least every morning and every evening, you sit quiet and focus yourself on a connection to your Creator.  Give thanks and feel the feeling of having it already.

Why do you have to feel what it feels like to have it already?  That is how you show specifically what it is you are giving thanks for – you are thanking for having it, not thanking for the hope of it.  Since you get what you desire you want your desire (love) to be about having it, not desire hoping for it.  Feel the joy, love, and gratitude of having what you ask for.  Feel the joy, love, and gratitude knowing it will always be this way, you will always get what you ask for, all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing.

Yes, it does make sense to pray when someone is sick.  It makes even more sense to pray as part of your daily life experience.  You don’t just get what you ask for in prayer when someone is sick.  It was meant to be applied to your daily life.

This power, your Creator, God, the Universe, the Infinite Intelligence, it’s there within you to guide and direct you and give you everything you need to express and experience a joyous life.  It will do exactly that if you let it.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1

But Alan, I prayed when my grandmother was sick and she still died.  Why?

First, know that who and what we are is more than just physical bodies.  We are Body, Mind, and Spirit.  The physical body is an instrument that is used to do things in the “physical” world.  The Mind is another instrument used to think, reason, and plan.  The Spirit, the power within you where all life begins, that is your true nature.  That is what controls and directs both the body and the mind.  When you think “I” you are thinking about the power within you that gives you life.  This power cannot be destroyed, it cannot die.  The physical body can stop working, but the spirit inside of us will always be.

While we are all part of the same, we are all also individuals, parts of the whole.  We are individuals with our own thoughts and feelings that nobody else can think and feel.  It was meant to be this way.  We are all here to follow our own path and experience life.  Your Grandmother followed her own path, and as long as she let her Spirit guide her it had to be the best path for her to follow.  If she did not let her Spirit guide her it was still the best path for her to follow since it was of her own thought that her life experience was created.

You might influence others to alter their path and someone might influence you to alter yours, but it will always be your own because only you – Body, Mind, and Spirit – can make that journey.  Your grandmother’s physical journey may have ended, but that which gave her life will always be.

Understand, her physical body did not speak to you, her spirit did and used her physical body to experience it.  Her physical body did not hold your hand.  Her spirit did and used her physical body to experience it.  Her physical body did not love you, her Spirit did and does and always will.  As odd as all that sounds, that is who and what we are.  That is our true nature.  We are spirit in the flesh.
